Bishop Kurialacherry College for Women was established in 1965 as a Junior College with four Pre- Degree Batches. Malayalam being the Second Language for the Pre- Degree students, the following teachers were appointed. Smt. Thankamma John, Smt. Rosamma Joseph.

            The College was upgraded in 1980, Degree Courses were introduced. Thus Malayalam was taught as an additional language to the degree students. Sr. Benjamin Mary SABS (1981), Sr. Mercy Kavalam SABS (1986) were appointed in the department. B.A. Malayalam (Vocational: Copy Editing) Course was introduced in 1998. Copy Editing, Proof Reading, DTP, CorelDRAW, PageMaker and Book Publishing were included in the syllabus.
